Argentina and Brazil: things are no good at all.

Argentina, 3rd partner is the post where I made some comments on the conflicts Brazilian industries have with our “brother” Argentina.

Yesterday, another meeting between Brazil and Argentina took place but things are not going very well. This is the 5th meeting to make commercial peace among the countries.

The President of Abimovel (furniture Association) told that he will not come back again to Argentina to discuss any agreement as Argentinians do not fulfil their promises. Import licences approvals are being delayed despite the Argentinian commitment to solve that and the initiative of Brazilian companies to reduce their exports to that country.

Let´s see if something good will happen in the meeting today.

Brasil e Argentina se reúnem em 14 de julho próximo, em Brasília, para ver se o Brasil responde às medidas protecionistas da Argentina, em função da crise financeira global desde o ano passado. A premissa é de que a Argentina estaria comprando itens da China em vez de mantê-los na pauta de importação do Brasil. Estão aí os móveis, têxteis, calçados e eletrodomésticos de linha branca. Será? Ninguém confirma mas a reunião tratará do tema e discute-se no governo se o Brasil entra com processo na Organização Mundial do Comércio (OMC) contra as várias barreiras do governo de Cristina Kirchner que afetaram o comércio bilateral.
